Wellington Street Development

Jan | 2015

The project occupies a challenging site in West Perth, on the corner of Colin and Wellington Streets. The brief called for a mixed used building that was contemporary, elegant and pushed the boundaries.

CHRISTOU's strategy turned the constraints of topography, setback and plot ratio into a building which captures the opportunity of the site - creating a western gateway into the city and developing a dialogue with the iconic landscape of Harold Boas Gardens.

The design incorporates a seven-storey mixed use, commercial and residential building. The end core will allow a highly efficient floor plate for single or multiple tenants.

The transparent facade has created a singular architecture separated from the landscaped podium and ground plane which connects to both Wellington and Colin Streets. The vertical fins reduce the solar gain on the facade and allow the transparency of the glass and internal workings of the building to animate the urban fabric of the city.

The project has achieved Development Approval and is anticipated to begin construction soon.
