Kings Square 2012

  • Fremantle, Western Australia

Our design idea grows from the strata of Fremantle, the geological, the historical and the urban, woven together within the confines of King's Square, the crafting of a place that is undeniably of its location. The familiar elements of Fremantle find resolution in the scheme, the battery walls along the coast, the urban walls of the streetscape and the subterranean tunnels and quarries which have all played a part in the making of the port and City of Fremantle. The building becomes a dynamic canvas, holding, capturing and framing the daily life of the City.
