East Perth Redevelopment 1994

  • East Perth, Western Australia

The WA State Government development agency and the East Perth Redevelopment Authority, commissioned CHRISTOU over a three and a half-year period to provide a vision and structure for three central precincts of its $260M redevelopment of former industrial land close to Perth’s central business district.

The commission required master planning, architectural modelling, development proposals and design guideline preparation. CHRISTOU was required to overview subsequent detail design proposals by other consultants.

The project, which incorporated 38 hectares of former industrial land adjacent to the central business district, was at that time the largest urban renewal project undertaken in WA. The integration of environmental solutions with recreational and urban village development objectives was our key master planning goal and this has been achieved.
